Elopements have grown fast in South Africa, helped by mountain, coastal and bushveld locations that need no styling at all. An elopement photographer works differently to a wedding photographer: fewer people, more walking, more weather, and a much larger share of the day spent on portraits. Many double as informal guides who know which Cape Peninsula or Drakensberg spots have permits, parking and good late light.
